Prof Richard McManus
Gender: Male
Prof Richard McManus qualified from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1991 and trained in London and Gloucestershire. He has been a GP since 1998 working in Birmingham, Oxford and now Brighton together with his university work. He joined Mile Oak Medical Centre at the start of 2025.
He is particularly interested in the prevention of heart disease and stroke through things like controlling blood pressure, cholesterol levels and irregular heart beats. His research includes trials in self-monitoring of blood pressure both in primary care and during/after pregnancy and he enjoys working with patients to control their blood pressure.
Alongside his work at Mile Oak, he is Dean at Brighton and Sussex Medical School and is interested in training medical students and doctors.
In his spare time he plays acoustic and electric guitar and enjoys cycling
