Net Zero Goal

A big thank you to the UK government and Brighton and Hove City Council for helping us towards our Net Zero goal.
Mile Oak Medical Centre declared a climate emergency in October 2021, as we were concerned about Primary Care’s contribution to the climate crises; Primary Care contributes to 23% of the NHS’s carbon footprint.
We are therefore very grateful that the UK government and Brighton and Hove City Council have part-funded three projects in 2024 via grants from their Shared Prosperity Fund. These are enabling us to convert our practice lighting to LED lights, and our single-use metal scissors and forceps, and our single-use plastic speculums to reusable, sterilisable metal equipment instead.
They have also helped us on our journey to increase biodiversity by part-funding a project to create and install a community garden. This will enable us to convert our back garden into a therapeutic garden for the community to enjoy. Should you wish to join the community garden team please enquire at the Reception for more details or come in and look at our display boards located at the indoor garden in the patient waiting room.
