Appointments

For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.

This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

Urgent appointments for today (Monday to Friday)

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Phone lines for morning appointments open at 8:30am, and phone lines for afternoon appointments open at 2pm. The GP may want to see you that same morning or afternoon, so please don’t make an appointment if you are not able to come down to the surgery to see someone face to face.

How to book

Enhanced access

We also have enhanced access available. See our Out of Hours information.

Book a Routine Appointment

Some appointments are bookable 3 weeks in advance.

We have trained our medical receptionists to ask you for a brief outline of your problem. This is so that they can direct you to the most appropriate professional to manage your concern; this could be a practice nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist, or mental health worker, rather than the GP. They will discuss your problem with you and agree what to do.

Ways to book

1. Request an appointment online

2. Telephone: 01273 426 200 and ask for a call back.

Please let them know if you are unavailable for any time during that day as we will try and call when it is convenient for you.

We are aware the phone lines get very busy and now have a call-back facility on our phones which means you do not have to hang on. We will call you back and you do not even lose place in the call queue.

3. In person via reception

You are also able to visit our practice in person to speak to our receptionists who can help you to arrange an appointment, or explain the options available to book one for yourself

4. Download the NHS App

Practice Nurse and Healthcare Assistant Appointments

Appointments to see the Practice Nurse or Healthcare Assistant are pre-bookable up to 4 weeks in advance via our receptionists.

For non-urgent appointments, it is best to avoid calling during the first hour or two after 8:30am to 2pm, as the phone lines can be very busy at these times.

Book a Blood Test

Blood tests are usually requested by one of our GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP) or a Practice Nurses.

Blood samples can be taken at the practice, The Royal Sussex County Hospital or at the Hove Polyclinic.

For polyclinic blood tests, appointments are only for persons over the age 16.

Tests ordered by a hospital doctor should be booked at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Weight Loss Injections

Please do not call asking for an appointment to request Mounjaro.

If you wish for more detailed information about weight loss strategies, including referrals to other organisations such as NHS Healthy Lifestyles and the NHS Weight Management service, then please Contact us online

It has been widely reported in several media sources that GPs will be able to prescribe weight loss injections, specifically Mounjaro, from 23rd June 2025.

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

The doctor may phone before visiting to assess the urgency of the visit, and after calling, they may request an alternative GP to visit if this means the visit will be done more quickly.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10am.

Telephone: 01273 426 200

You will be asked for a reason for the home visit so we can judge the urgency of the call.

If possible patients should make their way to the medical centre to see their GP or health professional. This is because we have much better equipment in the medical centre than we can bring out on visits. Also, for every home visit a GP or nurse makes, they could see several patients in the medical centre, so if you are mobile please come into the surgery to be seen. In cases of severe illness, infirmity, or emergencies, the GP or nurse will visit the patient at home.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.

See our DNA Policy for further details

Ways to cancel

1. Telephone us on 01273 426 200.

2. Cancel using our online services

3. Cancel through the NHS App
